About this course

The course will focus on how to approach the design of software UIs embedded in capital equipment such as dialysis machines, anesthesia machines, infusion pumps and patient monitors, but also over-the-counter and disposable devices such as blood pressure monitors, glucose meters, pen injectors and nebulizers. The instructors will also address the interests of individuals who focus on the design of medical software in the form of mobile apps, desktop apps and websites. The course also ventures into applied design principles and practices that, if followed, should result in UIs that promote a medical product’s safe, effective and satisfying use.

Within 1-month period following the online course, you may schedule a 1-hour, complimentary consultation with the instructors to ask any specific and company-confidential questions about software user interface design as well as seek a cursory UI design critique.

Meet the instructor

The instructor, who is co-author of Designing for Safe Use, will walk through the nuances of designing products that will be sold in a regulated marketplace, thereby taking into consideration use-related risks and the need to verify and validate their design solutions.

Cory Costantino, design director

For over 20 years, Cory has helped guide products, from hand-held consumer electronics to medical devices and software user interfaces, from concept to production.
