There is no one best prescription for conceptual design. Ask a dozen user interface designers about the purpose, process, and outcome of a conceptual design effort and you are likely to hear widely varying explanations. Such variability is not necessarily a bad thing. After all, conceptualizing a solution to a problem is a creative act that is inherently unique to the individual or team engaged in the activity.
